Winter is nature's way of saying, "Up yours." ~Robert Byrne

I love waking up to the frozen fog outside my window, the grey of winter all across town, and a white snow blanket on all the lawns. Unfortunately, I only love this weather then I can stay home, curl up on the couch with a good book and a steaming cup of tea... today, I had to drive to school and it was miserable!!!

I hate 8 am classes, but this Chemistry class was the only one that fit into my schedule and the last one I need for graduation, hence I have to force myself out of bed at 6 am to be able to make it downtown for it.

Breakfast was a hurried affair, and not a fantastic one. I had some instant oatmeal with apples but it wasn't the best. I'm not the biggest fan of oatmeal, but it is fast to make, healthy and keeps away the hunger for a while. My tea, on the other hand, was delicious!! TAZO Awake with two slices of lemon!

My drive to school was as slow as can be. Leaving the house around 6:30 am usually guarantees that I am at school by 7:30 am and beat all the traffic, but because of the snow everyone was slow-poking it down the highway. The radio kept telling me that the temperature was dropping and sure enough my windshield was freezing over from the fog, even though I had the heater on and the wipers were working! Yikes!

By the time I got to school it was about 12 degrees out, and starting to smell like snow. Class was delayed by 15 minutes, which turned into a half hour since my professor decided that it was perfect weather for biking to work!

Between getting to school at about 7:50 am and leaving the building to head home at 9:30 am there was a good inch of snow on the ground, and the temperature had dropped another few degrees! BRRRRR!

The Camaro did great for the most part. I was dancing around on the roads a bit, and it thanking God that there were not too many cars around. I got almost all the way home, and that was about it. I was stuck in our neighborhood for about two hours before my in-laws came and rescued me with their truck!

I can't complain too much, the heated seats and the phone charger in the car got some great use. I kept my bum warm while reading the news and playing on the internet! I wouldn't know what to do with myself if it weren't for smartphones!

I also got a little creative and tried taking some artsy pictures with my point and shoot! The result of my handy work is on the left. :-)

At around 12:30 pm I made it home. Got the fireplace going, and am now sitting next to it and enjoying a large cup of steaming tea!!

The car made it all the way to the house, but no matter what we tried she refused to go into the garage,
so as a punishment she is stuck on the side of the house, in the cold and snow. Breaks my heart!

Food for thought: What is the best thing to do on a dreary day like this?

Lazy Sunday

I am declaring Sundays my lazy days only because there was so much going on this morning that I had no time to actually think about what I was eating.

It seems that my Sundays usually are everything but lazy. I have a tutoring session in the mornings, then homework, laundry and cleaning...

So this was just a notice that I'm being a bum!!!

See ya'll tomorrow!!!

5000 Miles

Today was a particularly early Saturday morning for Donald and I, we got up around 8:30 am, usually we lay around till about 9:00 or 10:00 depending on what the previous night had in store for us. Anywhooo... Donald had a Magic tournament at 10:00 am and I had to get our newest toy into the dealership for her first service check!

So breakfast was a hurried and simple ordeal... It consisted of an apple with two tablespoons of creamy natural peanut butter, accompanied by a glass of Arizona Southern Style Sweet Tea!!!

I love fruits for breakfast! I usually have a bunch of snacks between breakfast and lunch, so I don't tend to eat a large breakfast but I always, always, always have to have TEA!!

It doesn't matter whether its hot tea or cold, it's always the best way to get my fix of caffeine.
August 20th, 2010 - Just drove the car off the
lot with 7 miles that I put on it test driving

Once breakfast was taken care of, my mother and I left for Park Meadows where the dealership as well as our favorite stores and my fantastic hair stylist are located. My beautiful Camaro SS was dropped off in the incompetent hands of the dealership for its first ever check up, 4780 miles! We bought the Camaro in August as an impulse buy while out looking for a truck, and have not regretted a single minute of it (even though it is damn awful in the snow)!!!

The car is beautiful, and powerful at 430 HP stock. We have big plans for this one... once the factory warranty wears off...

With the car squared away, my mother and I headed over to the new Kirkland's that was opened by our good friend Ralean! I had never been to a Kirkland's and was defiantly in happy land due to my obsession with home decor and decorating!!!!

I bought a few pieces for the dinning room, the guest bathroom and the top of the kitchen cabinets!! Planning on going back next weekend for some more goodies! The goal is to clean out the loft and our bedroom so that the decorating process can began!!!

Between shopping and waiting for the car to be done, my mother and I visited Kaitlin (my stylist) to get her hair done! Kaitlin is fantastic and gave my mom one of the best haircuts she's ever had!!!

Once my mom was armed with a beautiful A-line, it was time to pick up my baby and head to lunch!!!!!

Lunch was amazing!!! We stopped by Panera Bread and I had my usual tuna salad sandwich! I love their tuna mix on the honey wheat bread with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and spicy mustard!

Then I got home and did some homework on Human Sexuality, drank lots of water and got ready for dinner at the in-laws!!

Dinner was all fancy! My mother-in-law just got her dining room cleaned out so she decided to take full advantage of it and we set down to a nice family dinner!

My plate was amazing! A slow cooked pork chop with gravy, a pile of mashers with butter and steamed broccoli with olive oil and fresh Parmesan.

It was a good day!

I can still fit in my Wedding Dress?! ... Just not so well

April 2007 - High School Graduation

In high school I was as healthy as could be, and it came naturally. I played tennis and consequently lifted weights and worked out on a daily basis. Almost all my meals were homemade, and the level of stress in life was at its lowest.

In 2007 my weight was right around a 125 pounds. I felt great and was happy. Through most of college I was able to maintained that wait without much effort. I was working like a maniac and going to school downtown, so I got a great daily exercise of walking around Denver from school to work and vise versa.

November of 2008 - Mexico

In 2009 Donald and I got engaged, and wed shortly after. While Donald was traveling for work, I was running between school and my three jobs, which meant I had no time to sit around and couldn't afford to eat out, so I dependent on my parents to feed me. My mother is all for healthy food and homemade meals, hence I was always eating healthy!

On our wedding day, my dress that had been tailored to fit me like a glove was actually slightly loose, which was a little annoying. However, I'd rather it be a little loose then not fit into it, so I was happy and healthy!!!

November 20th, 2009 - Our Wedding  Day
For our First Anniversary, Donald and I went on a cruise to celebrate and I too my wedding dress as one of the formal dresses. When I tried on the dress for our anniversary dinner, it fit but very, very snuggly. In fact, it was so snug that I couldn't wear the corset underneath it.

I consumed way more food on my wedding day than on the cruise, however there is a definite "pudge" in the second picture. One of my friends mistook my "food baby" for a pregnancy bump!!!

November 22nd, 2009 - On the Cruise for our
one year anniversary
I've never had to deal with watching what I eat, but apparently I have outlived my days of a high metabolism and have to start watching what I eat as well as working out to stay in shape. I've never believed in a given diet or a weight loss program, however I do believe in eating healthy and losing more calories then you take-in in order to lose the unwanted weight.

So there you have it! Starting tomorrow (January 29th 2011) I will post everything I consume throughout the day as well as what I do to try and burn calories!
