Body Pump and Couch to 5K

Yup, its happening. I’ve actually gotten off the couch and done something with my life!

Yesterday was my first day trying out my new (my mother-in-law’s old) treadmill, and to test it out I did my first day of the first week of Couch to 5K.
It was hard to push myself through the 30 minutes, especially since I’ve been literally a couch potato for the past 6 months!! BUT it felt so great afterwards!

Then today, I actually went to the gym!!!!

I haven’t been in an actual gym for years, right about 5 years… So it was a big achievement to even get my butt out of bed, put on my first pair of official yoga pants and drive to the 24Hour Fitness!

Then to add to this, I actually managed to get through an hour long Body Pump class, which I’ve never done before and don’t know how I feel about.

I’ve always trained under the impression that you concentrate on one part of your body at a time. Hence, why I loved P90X, where the  concentration was on one form and one section of the body at a time.

While I don’t know how I feel about Body Pump, I’ll plan on going to it, since we haven’t set up the TV in the basement to start working on P90X, plus the gym is pretty snazzy with a very large lap pool and better machines, free weights and accommodation then our basement provides.

The soreness all around makes me feel good, and I know that I’m on the right track.

I am thinking of taking a couple of nutrition classes just to get my eating habits on the right track as well. Have you every taken a nutrition class? And what do you think of it? What do you recommend?

  1. Wow like minds here. I started my way back to fitness by counting calories. Today hit my goal. Yipee!

  3. I needed this post today! I'm starting to get bored and down with my workout/nutrition plan. I think we need a jolt every once in a while to shake things up.
