“You want me to do something…Tell me I can’t do it”

The quote is from Maya Angelou, and I feel that it is very true. When someone tells me I can’t do something, I will do almost everything in my power to prove them wrong.

How about you?!

Welcome to Day 2 of 25 Days of Fitness!!!!

I mentioned yesterday (Here) that getting into a better shape and being healthy is not just losing weight or getting the beach bod for the summer, then gaining it all back, but rather a lifestyle overhaul to make sure that the weight stays off and you continue to be healthy. So today’s post will be about the first baby step that each of us can and should take to insure that our lives are healthier in regard to lifestyle change.

The first step is to Drink more H2O!!!

I know all of you are rolling your eyes at me, and thinking DUH!! But do you know that many of us forget to drink water? Or that we mistake thirst for hunger? … yeah I didn’t think so! For me, personally, it has been a challenge to force myself to drink enough water, and I still don’t think I drink enough. I have to carry around my trusty water bottle in order to remember to drink!

Here are some general facts for you:

Water makes up about 70% of our bodies

It transports nutrients and oxygen

It helps flush out toxins from your body and blood

It is key in regulating body temperature

It helps turn food into energy

It cushions and protects joints and organs

Not drinking enough water will lead to dehydration, which can cause weight gain, double the risk of a heart attack, cause chronic headaches and dizziness as well as contribute to a dozen other diseases. Since our body needs water to expel toxins and regulate the viscosity of blood, dehydration can throw everything out of whack and cause lots of problems.

The Recommendation and Challenge:

It is highly recommended that you drink at least 8 glasses (8oz each) of water a day. For those who are highly active, more is recommended, especially if your day included alcoholic beverages and lots of sugars.

So set a goal of drinking 8 glasses of water a day!

Do not replace water with soda, fruit juice or even unnaturally sweetened water. If you hate the taste of water, then add some natural favors like cut up cucumbers or a fresh squeezed lemon.

I personally forget to drink water if I don’t have it with me at all times. Hence, I invested in one of the Lifefactory Water Bottles.

Here is what Amazon has to say about the water bottle:

Fusing modern sensibility and eco-friendly composition with exceptional utility, the 22-ounce Lifefactory beverage bottle combines a glass bottle with a unique patent pending silicone sleeve in red that provides a great gripping surface and helps to prevent breakage. By using a glass bottle, there's no risk of chemicals leaching into your drink and no metallic taste. And the silicone sleeve with circular perforations is free of plastics and is 100 percent non-toxic (all materials are FDA approved). The wide mouth bottle design makes it easy to add ice, citrus slices, tea bags, and more. It's topped by a twist-off cap with integrated carry handle. The bottle measures 3-1/8 inches in diameter and 10-1/2 inches tall. While the silicone sleeve is removable, it can stay on the glass bottle when cleaned in the dishwasher.

I love my Lifefactory bottle, it doesn’t make the water taste like plastic or metal. Smile You can get your own on Amazon

I am not being paid to advertise for Lifefactory and the opinion is my own, aside for the general Amazon description. I use this product daily and love it.

  1. I've been better in the last couple of days about drinking more water. It is a step that I had forgotten the last two weeks. It's starting to become a bit easier. I cut caffeine today too...big step...hopefully I'll see results.

I like this series you're doing!

  2. It is really easy to forget about drinking water. Which reminds me that I have yet to drink a glass of water today.

Caffeine is so hard to cut out, because I am such a big coffee and tea drinker. But I've been good about avoiding soda. :-) I haven't had any kind of a soda product since the 1st of the month! Woohoo for 6 days!
